CAHIP Orange County’s Maggie Stedt Honored with the Patrick Rodriguez Heart of SCAN Award

Orange County, CA Medicare advocate and industry leader Maggie Stedt has been named the recipient of the Patrick Rodriguez Heart of SCAN Award, presented by SCAN Health Plan. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, advocacy, and dedication to both independent insurance agents and the Medicare beneficiaries they serve.

The award was established to honor the legacy of Patrick Rodriguez, whose more than 30 years of work helped strengthen the role of independent agents while championing the needs of plan members.

“Maggie embodies the spirit of this award,” said presenter Michael Blea. “She is a fearless leader who consistently puts the greater good ahead of personal gain and has dedicated her career to advocating for agents and the people they serve.”

Stedt began her career in the Medicare industry working for a carrier before becoming an independent agent more than two decades ago. Throughout her career, she has been widely recognized for her integrity, leadership, and commitment to client advocacy.

Early in her career, Stedt recognized the need for stronger collaboration between agents and carriers. She recently helped establish the Medicare Builders Group, bringing together leading agents to provide carriers with valuable feedback on plan performance and member service. The group serves as an important voice for independent agents.

Stedt has also held numerous leadership roles within the industry. She served two terms as President of the Orange County Chapter of the California Association of Health Care Professionals and later served as President of the state chapter, CAHIP.

She was instrumental in launching the first carrier panel that eventually evolved into the Senior Summit. Today, more than 30 Medicare summits are held across the country each year, helping strengthen communication and collaboration across the industry.

For more than 25 years, Stedt has traveled annually to Washington, D.C., and Sacramento with fellow industry leaders to advocate for policies impacting insurance agents and Medicare beneficiaries. She has also worked with the National Association of Benefit Insurance Professionals (NABIP) leadership to help establish the Medicare Committee, where industry experts meet regularly to review legislation and guide national advocacy efforts.

Much of this work has been done on a volunteer basis, reflecting Stedt’s deep commitment to supporting the community of independent agents and the clients they serve.

For her decades of leadership, advocacy, and service to the Medicare community, Maggie Stedt was proudly named this year’s recipient of the Patrick Rodriguez Heart of SCAN Award.
